We in Maine are so lucky to have such beautiful fields of wildflowers along our roads and even our highways! I often ride to Brunswick, Maine, to see all the lupine along the roads. We have pink, white and purple lupine here in Maine, and it is always so pleasing to the eyes to see them wild and shared by all who travel the roads here in Maine. More from Mackyzie's Flat Stanley in Missouri!
Hi- I’m back! Russ and Beth took me to the Saint Louis Art
Museum, and it was big and full of paintings, sculptures and even
exhibits of actual clothing worn a long time ago by the Native
Americans. These three photos are of the outside of the museum. The
huge statue of the king on a horse
Is King Louis IX (9th) who
the city is named after. In the second photo, I am standing on top of
the hill in front of the museum overlooking the beautiful fountains and
lake below. The hill is known as Art Hill, and when Beth was a little
girl she and a lot of kids in St. Louis would sled down the hill in
winter. It is a long ride and you had to be sure not to fall in the
lake! The third photo is a sculpture of an enormous electrical outlet
made of iron and copper. So cool to climb on! I’ll be back soon with
more photos of the museum.
Mackynzie's Flat Stanley in Missouri!
Hi - it’s me Flat Stanley. I am visiting my friends Russ and Beth in
beautiful St. Louis, Missouri, also known as the Gateway to the West.
The reason this city is called that- is because of it’s location on the
confluence (where two rivers meet) of the Great Mississippi and the
Missouri Rivers. Also, because it was the starting point for many
expeditions of people who wanted to explore the vast western region of
the United States back when it was populated mostly by Native
Americans. In the photo attached, you can see the famous 630 ft.
Gateway Arch which was built in the 1960’s. There is an actual train
inside the arch that you can ride to the top and see a long distance
both East and West. Bye for now!

Jack's Flat Stanley Goes to Mexico!
Jack’s Flat
Stanley traveled from Tampa, Florida to Guadalajara, Mexico with a
flight connection in Houston, Texas. As Mexico’s second biggest city,
Guadalajara, located in the Mexican
state of Jalisco is home to almost 7 million people and has an
incredible amount of things to do and see. The Historic City Center is
dotted with plazas and landmarks such as museums, cathedrals and
colonial architecture. The suburbs of Tlaquepaque, Tonala
and Zopopan are known for their restaurants, boutique shops and markets
filled with Mexican handicrafts. The city of Tequila is just an hour
away.

Harrison's Flat Stanley in California!
Friday night we went to the opening show of Ben’s artwork. I was in the envelope all evening so I didn’t see anything, but on Saturday,
that was a cool day, we went up to a big park high on a hill overlooking
Los Angeles called Griffith Park. At the top of the park is this place
called Griffith Observatory where they have huge telescopes where people
can look at the stars in the sky…the telescopes make the stars look so
big!
This is the Griffith Observatory behind me!From the Observatory you can see all of Los Angeles below. Over my shoulder you can see the big tall buildings in the downtown area. They look so small from up here.
Another thing you can see from the Observatory is the famous HOLLYWOOD sign. Ben says the sign was built in 1923 as an advertisement but now has become identified with Los Angeles like the Statue Of Liberty is identified with New York City. Ben took this picture of me with the HOLLYWOOD sign over my shoulder. It looks small from here but each letter is 50 feet tall…that is like 12 Harrisons standing on top of each other!
So, that is my Los Angeles adventure! I think next I am going to jump
back in the envelope and head off to Paris, France to to visit a friend
of Ben’s who lives over there!

Jack's Flat Stanley having fun in Florida!
Flat Stanley, sent to us by Jack Feldhaus, had a busy Sunday in St. Petersburg, Florida. Temps on this sunny February weekend were in the low 80’s.
Stanley spent the day in St. Pete at the “down town” parks and museums. St. Petersburg, Florida is located on Florida's gulf coast and is the second largest city in the Tampa Bay area. It's known for its pleasant weather and is sometimes called the “Sunshine City”.
St. Petersburg is also home to the Tampa Bay Ray’s Major League Baseball teem and the Tampa Bay Rowdies professional soccer team.
