Mackynzie's Flat Stanley in Missouri!

Hi!  My friend Beth and I are at the St. Louis City Zoo - one of the best in the world!  They take very good care of the animals and it is a fun place for everyone to visit.  And- it’s free.

This is a sculpture by an artist of a giant Squid.  It looks so real, and it is very BIG!
Look at all the animal faces you can have painted on YOUR face. So cool!
We went to see the Penguins first -one of them came up to us to say hello!  They have a nice home here, where they can swim and slide on rocks and play.

😊
This photo was taken in the Reptile House.  It is an Iquana and it looks a lot like the rocks it is standing on - which makes it hard for other creatures ( including us) to see them. This is known as camouflage.  Many of the animals at the zoo are camouflaged which makes it hard to take their pictures, but keeps them safe from predators.

This is a Mexican Beaded Lizard.  It is quite beautiful, and does look like it has beads on his back.  Unlike the Iquana - it is not camouflaged - maybe because it is poisonous and it’s important that other creatures ( including humans) see it before it sees us.

Aliza's Flat Stanley in Florida!

Aliza's Flat Stanley has been in sunny Florida!

He enjoyed some Florida sunshine and palm trees!

He went to spring training with the NH Fisher Cats player Michael De La Cruz (#5)
He went to Hollywood Studios in Disney (you can see Goofy in the background 😁).

Dexter's Flat Stanley in Indiana!

Hello there from the McNally’s in Indiana! Dexter’s Flat Stanley has spent some time with us here in Indianapolis. Indianapolis is the capital of Indiana. We took Flat Stanley to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the Racing Capital of the World. Here, they have the Indianapolis 500 Indy Car race. This year, the 102nd Running of the Indianapolis 500 will be held in just a few short weeks. It is over 100 years old! The winner of the race always drinks a cold bottle of milk to celebrate. It’s a tradition!

Since Flat Stanley was visiting with us, we packed him in our suitcase for spring break. We hopped on an airplane from Chicago, Illinois to London, England! He visited some sights with us like the Tower Bridge and Buckingham Palace to see the Changing of the Guard. He really like to see Paddington Railway Station. There was even a Paddington Bear statue of the beloved bear in English literature.

Thanks for the visit Flat Stanley!

Clara's Flat Stanley in Middlefield, Connecticut!

Clara's Flat Stanley is having a great time in Connecticut! There are many fun places in our town.  The places Flat Stanley visited was Lyman Orchards and Powder Ridge.  Lyman Orchards has pick-your-own apples, peaches and many other fruits and vegetables.  Also, Lyman Orchards has a store and a bakery.  You can go through a sunflower maze, a corn maze, play golf and go on an apple hunt.
At Powder Ridge, you can ski, snowboard, and go tubing.  There is also a restaurant that you can go to eat at after fun!  Flat Stanley had lots of fun while visiting Middlefield, Connecticut.

Brenham's Flat Stanley in Mississippi!

Flat Stanley visited with Brenham's friend in Biloxi/Gulfport Mississippi, which is located on the beach! We are actually the area that was affected by hurricane Katrina.

While here, he laid out by the pool, climbed a magnolia tree, which is the state flower, and went to the beach while it was 80 degrees!  Wow, Flat Stanley!

Mackynzie's Flat Stanley in St. Louis, Missouri!

We are now inside the art museum, which is VERY big.  The first photo shows a painting by Pablo Picasso.  He was famous for a style that was very modern.  Can you tell what this is?  Neither can I - but I like it. The second photo is a painting by Vincent Van Gogh.  He was famous for paintings that were very wavy and beautiful.  His most famous painting is called “Starry Night”.

This was my favorite exhibit - the blue laser light.  Can you see me?
I really liked the Native American exhibit.  In this photo, are toys, shoes (called Moccasins) and a vest that kids like us wore and played with a long time ago.  Everything was handmade, and much of it with animal skins.  Take a closer look - can you see all the beads?
