Ryan's Flat Stanley Visits Ontario, Canada!

Ryan's Flat Stanley had a fabulous visit with Ryan's relative, Marlyn Brownrigg!  She lives in Canada, which is the country north of the United States.  Ontario is one of 10 provinces and three territories that make up Canada.
Oakville is approximately 40 miles west of Toronto, Ontario, and borders Lake Ontario.  The Niagara Falls, NY border is one hour away.  Oakville has a population of 187,300 people.

Oakville was founded in 1857 by Colonel William Chisholm, and enterprising merchant and shipbuilder, who built Erchless Estate overlooking his new harbor and Lake Ontario.  Today, visitors can still enjoy that magnificent view and explore the beautiful buildings, grounds and gardens with guided tours offered by the Oakville Museum.  Oakville is home to many businesses but two of their most well known are Tim Horton's and the Weather Network.

This is in front of the director's controls at the weather network.  The Weather network is like the Weather Channel from the United States.  The Weather Network broadcasts local areas and it is on TV 24 hours a day!

Samuel's Flat Stanley in Oregon!

Samuel's Flat Stanley had a visit with Christine, Aria and Peter in Oregon!
It was cloudy and rainy the morning he was there, but by the afternoon, the sun was peeking through! Aria is only 9 months old, but she enjoyed going to the grocery store with Flat Stanley.  He had fun watching her crawl all over the house.  She might be walking soon!  She doesn't have any teeth yet, but those will be coming in any day now.
Samuel's Flat Stanley is now safely back in Gorham after a very busy winter.

Brooklyn's Flat Stanley in Kentucky!

Brooklyn's Flat Stanley wanted to give the class some coal from Kentucky.  He found it by the railroad tracks where the train carries the coal and sent a box of it to our class!  There was an "imposter" in the box--a really heavy rock.  We could tell the difference because we learned that coal is really light!
Flat Stanley had a lot of fun with Brooklyn's Aunt and was happy to send everyone a little bit of Kentucky!

Did you know that New Jersey  is known as the Garden State?  There are many things to do here, including swimming, shopping and much more!  While Flat Stanley was with us, we went snowmobiling in Vermont, played outside, and went to our lake house!  We even had an Easter Egg hunt!  Flat Stanley had a great time!

Ryan's Flat Stanley Relaxes and Helps Out in Virginia!

Hi! I arrived in Virginia on May 4.  It sure felt good to get out of that envelope and stretch my arms and legs.  Shortly after I arrived, we got in the car and rode out into the country to a farm.  We stayed there for several days.  I had lots of fun!  I got to help do some work.
Look at me in this great big tree!

I helped plant some pretty flowers!
One day I went to the dentist.  I got to ride on Dr. Meade’s toy airplane.

Then Mr. Tim cleaned and checked my teeth.    No cavities!  Great job, Flat Stanley!
I got to help with the mowing.  There was a lot of mowing to do there!

Afterward I had a rest time in the hammock.
I helped Mr. Arnold reach the high spots.  We fixed the fan and painted the posts

on the back porch.

Then we had peanuts for a snack.  Lots of peanuts are grown

in Virginia.  People used to grow peanuts at this farm.  Did you know peanuts

grow underground just like potatoes?

It’s strawberry picking time in Virginia.  Yummy.   I have had lots of fun in Virginia.

It has been warm and sunny here.  I am glad I wore shorts.  Did you know Virginia

is on the Atlantic Ocean?  There are mountains in Virginia too.  There is lots of

history around here.  The last battles of the Civil War 150 years ago were fought

right around this farm.  The soldiers from Maine with General Joshua Chamberlain

camped about a mile from here.  Now I am ready to come home to Maine.
