Aidan's Flat Stanley Travels to South Africa!

Aidan's Flat Stanley is excited to report that he is been to Stellenbosch and Cape Town, South Africa! (Flat Stanley & I surmise that he descends directly from the famous British explorer Henry Morton Stanley, a  Welsh journalist and explorer known for his exploration of central Africa and his search for missionary and explorer David Livingstone). Very exciting for Flat Stanley!
Stanley at Heathrow Airport in London (Terminal 5). Have a great trip, Flat Stanley!
Stanley in the wine region of Stellenbosch, South Africa (the Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek valleys form the Cape Winelands, the larger of the two main wine growing regions in South Africa).
Stanley in front of Table Mountain, Cape Town, South Africa (in 2012, Table Mountain was named one of the 7 Wonders of Nature!).
Stanley in front of the British frigate HMS Dragon, at port in Cape Town, South Africa (HMS Dragon is the fourth ship of the Type 45 or Daring-class air-defence destroyers built for the British Royal Navy. She was launched in November 2008 and commissioned on 20 April 2012.  She's a beauty!).

Stanley and I at breakfast near Table Mountain (note the clouds rolling off the mountain in the background ... there also were lots of gulls trying to steal our breakfast).

Stanley piloting a helicopter of Her Majesty's Royal Navy aboard the HMS Dragon (the pointy mountain you see in the background is called the Lion's Head, which stands near Table Mountain!).

Stanley and I meet the Captain of the HMS Dragon in Cape Town.  Quite a nice chap with a great deal of responsibility on his hands!

Stanley is currently en route to Belgium to continue his adventures.  He is scheduled to arrive this Friday.  He'll be picked up by an officer of the United States Marine Corps, and given a room outside of Brussels in the municipality of Tervuren in the province of Flemish Brabant, Flanders. It was a great honor to spend time with Stanley, who is excited to see Aidan again soon and tell him of his adventures!  Many thanks to Aidan Smith's and Flat Stanley's great pal, Stephen Loynd!
