Samuel's Flat Stanley in Virginia!

Flat Stanley arrived safe and sound in Fredericksburg, VA and Dakota Yee showed me a few
sites while I visited!

First we took a twenty minute drive to Westmoreland
County to the birth place of our first President George Washington.
Originally settled by John Washington, George Washington's great-grandfather,
our President was born here on February 22, 1732.  The
property overlooks the Potomac River.

Speaking of the civil war, Dakota lives minutes away from Fredericksburg and
Spotsylvania County Battlefields.  It is here that the two Civil War armies
clashed in and around Fredericksburg in four battles within an 18 month span
resulting in over 100,000 casualties.

Another famous
person's birthplace is about anther fifteen minutes from here.  Stratford Hall
Plantation also in Westmoreland County, Virginia, was the home of four
generations of the Lee family of Virginia, including two signers of the
Declaration of Independence, and it was the birthplace of Robert Edward Lee
(1807-70), who commanded the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia during the
American Civil War.

I'm now off to Omak, Washington to meet Dakota's great aunt Sally across the
country!
