Mackynzie's Flat Stanley in Missouri!

Hi!  My friend Beth and I are at the St. Louis City Zoo - one of the best in the world!  They take very good care of the animals and it is a fun place for everyone to visit.  And- it’s free.

This is a sculpture by an artist of a giant Squid.  It looks so real, and it is very BIG!
Look at all the animal faces you can have painted on YOUR face. So cool!
We went to see the Penguins first -one of them came up to us to say hello!  They have a nice home here, where they can swim and slide on rocks and play.

😊
This photo was taken in the Reptile House.  It is an Iquana and it looks a lot like the rocks it is standing on - which makes it hard for other creatures ( including us) to see them. This is known as camouflage.  Many of the animals at the zoo are camouflaged which makes it hard to take their pictures, but keeps them safe from predators.

This is a Mexican Beaded Lizard.  It is quite beautiful, and does look like it has beads on his back.  Unlike the Iquana - it is not camouflaged - maybe because it is poisonous and it’s important that other creatures ( including humans) see it before it sees us.
