Today Stanley got to see the B-1 Wright Flyer up close. The Navy
purchased the airplane from the Wright Brothers in 1911. The Wright's
made the plane in their factory in Dayton Ohio, boxed it up and shipped
it to the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Orville Wright accompanied the
plane and helped the Midshipmen assemble it in Dahlgren Hall, where the
replica hangs today. It made its first flight from the Naval Academy on 7
Sept 1911. Stanley got to sit in the pilots seat.
