Hi - it’s me Flat Stanley. I am visiting my friends Russ and Beth in
beautiful St. Louis, Missouri, also known as the Gateway to the West.
The reason this city is called that- is because of it’s location on the
confluence (where two rivers meet) of the Great Mississippi and the
Missouri Rivers. Also, because it was the starting point for many
expeditions of people who wanted to explore the vast western region of
the United States back when it was populated mostly by Native
Americans. In the photo attached, you can see the famous 630 ft.
Gateway Arch which was built in the 1960’s. There is an actual train
inside the arch that you can ride to the top and see a long distance
both East and West. Bye for now!
